Ashika, in recent times, has
been involved in creating monumental pieces. This exquisite piece
offers an opportunity to acquire a more compact work, that will sit
well in many an urban or suburban garden or courtyard, and reflects
the exciting new direction Ashika's work has taken.
Marek
Ostapkowicz, Deva Ashika, is known for his original stone
sculptures and water features in granite, basalt and marble in
domestic and corporate settings, Ashika is a rare talent who is
living and working here in Victoria.
Born in
Poland, he migrated to Vancouver, Canada where he studied art
andsculpture. Works in public and private collections also in
Europe and India. He is working from his studio at Woodend with his
wife and fellow artist, Padmawith
whom he collaborates on joint projects.

Ashika continues to raise
his profile as an artist, and was selected as a finalist for the
Helen Lempriere National Sculpture Award, Australia’s
richest annual prize for sculptor’s in Australia, exhibiting his
piece Time and Timelessness at Werribee Park from
March 2007.
This followed inclusions in
two McClelland Contemporary Sculpture Surveys. In its seventh
year, the exhibition of Finalists will provide a fabulous showcase
of the leaders in contemporary Australian sculpture.
In 2008 two of Ashika's
sculptures were acquired by the Easlink Public Art
Collection.
