Ashika

Ashika, in recent times, has been involved in creating monumental pieces. This exquisite piece offers an opportunity to acquire a more compact work, that will sit well in many an urban or suburban garden or courtyard, and reflects the exciting new direction Ashika's work has taken.

Marek Ostapkowicz, Deva Ashika, is known for his original stone sculptures and water features in granite, basalt and marble in domestic and corporate settings, Ashika is a rare talent who is living and working here in Victoria.

Born in Poland, he migrated to Vancouver, Canada where he studied art andsculpture. Works in public and private collections also in Europe and India. He is working from his studio at Woodend with his wife and fellow artist, Padmawith whom he collaborates on joint projects.

Artist's Statement            CV

Ashika continues to raise his profile as an artist, and was selected as a finalist for the Helen Lempriere National Sculpture Award, Australia’s richest annual prize for sculptor’s in Australia, exhibiting his piece Time and Timelessness at Werribee Park from March 2007.

This followed inclusions in two McClelland Contemporary Sculpture Surveys. In its seventh year, the exhibition of Finalists will provide a fabulous showcase of the leaders in contemporary Australian sculpture.

In 2008 two of Ashika's sculptures were acquired by the Easlink Public Art Collection.
