SCULPTURE

Kalinowski
reveals new potential in steel through this body of work, the first
for several years.. The material is ’lighter in feel’ than bronze
or stone and by using colour he has embarked on a unique departure
in the patination process. Working like an archetypal inventor his
drawings appear like alchemical formula ahead of the work
-
“When a design feels
complete, it then enters the laboratory of shape that is my studio
to begin the next level of experimentation.”
In scale he
covers the full spectrum – from pedestal and courtyard features, to
large outdoor industrial sculpture, kinetic art and jewellery. Both
approachable and affordable, this exhibition shouldn't be
missed.
“This new body of steel
work was at first a vague concept, largely unconscious and then I
worked with a computer 3d design tool several years ago and shapes
emerged, the process was originally very logical. Shapes were
worked, re worked, re designed, challenged striving to find new,
new, new… and then a form emerges that has an aesthetic balance
that I respond to, this is always what I am looking
for.”
In 2008 Viktor
Kalinowski was chosen to participate in the Barossa
